Read & Craft Activity: Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle


A simple craft activity that you can do at home with your child after reading the book - Mister Seahorse by Eric Carle. The completed craft can be used as a decorative item or a hook to hang things.

Craft: Seahorse Hook

Recommended Age for craft activity: 2.5 and above

Time needed: 15 to 20 minutes

Seahorse Hook

Materials needed:

  • Seahorse Template (download here)

  • Double-sided Tape

  • Masking Tape

  • A Pair of scissors

  • Pipe Cleaner

  • A Pair of Googly Eyes

  • S-Shape Hook (12 cm x 5 cm)

  • A Variety of Craft Materials

Instructions:

  1. Decorate the Seahorse template and cut it out. (May require assistance from an adult.)

  2. Attach the S-Shape hook on one of the reverse side of the template with a piece of masking tape.

  3. Attach 3 pieces of double-sided tape onto the other reverse side of the template.

  4. Put the pipe cleaner between the top of the S-Shape hook and the template.

  5. Twist it together to create a hook.

  6. Peel off the double-sided tapes and stick the cutout together.

  7. Stick Googly eyes on both sides of the template.

Instructions (visual):

We recommend you to print the seahorse template out on paper that is slightly thicker than the normal copier paper you use at home or office.
